What is DLFF Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation (DLFF) is a charity-organisation in East Sri Lanka that wants to improve the living conditions in Homes where handicapped and aged people live. DLFF was established in 2005 by former volunteers who previously worked with the majority of the handicapped residents of the Sarana Children's Home. We felt that it was important that the initial work we performed should have a continued character and that future work would have to be carried out by the Sri Lanka women , accompanied by Dutch volunteers. In this way three pillars were established from which we work:activitiesprogram, medical and hygienic care and the future of people outside the home. A fourth pillar was later added: buildingconstruction-work. The foundation works with locally employed staff, that is guided and trained by us. In this way we're giving an incentive for local employment-opportunities and enable us to work according to the standards and values of the Sri Lanka culture and preservation of their own language.We like to create a basis for a assisted and wellfounded independency. One day the DLFF will distance itself from the projects and we 'll focus more on a monitor-function. The Taxation-Department has recognised Foundation DLFF as Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling (ANBI)Therefore your donations to DLFF are tax-deductible. In addition the Foundation DLFF has a NGO regristration in Sri Lanka. This registration is granted by the government of Sri Lanka to (Inter) national organisations who are not political affiliated, enable us to have discussions with a Sri Lankan accredited accountant administration and working to the standards of the Sri Lakan government. DLFF needs this NGO registration because of her activities in East Sri Lanka, a district that is claimed by the Tamils and controlled by the government. We also consider it a good sign that the Sri Lankan government has recognised our regristration, our work -methods were approved! |
